If you arrive at the clinic without your medical record, we will need to make an appointment for you with one of the local ophthalmologists before treatment for Macular Degeneration can begin.
The acupuncture treatment for macular degeneration includes classic Chinese acupuncture points on the arms, hands, legs, feet and head. Intraocular (eye) points ARE NOT utilized.
You will start treatment on Monday when you are greeted by our specially trained staff, and then undergo a visual field exam as well as near and distant visual acuity tests. After these simple tests, you will have your initial interview with the Doctor to review your medical records and test results, as well as answer any questions you may have regarding acupuncture or macular degeneration treatment. You will be given a schedule for treatments that are given three times a day for the remainder of the week, with a second visual field exam also done during the week.
All treatments at our center are administered by a licensed physician.
On Friday, you will have another private interview with the physician to discuss the feasibility of extending treatment into a second week, or if follow up treatment is recommended.
